1996 World Aerobic Championship
On July, 20 Seaworld in Orlando, Florida, hosts the 7th edition of the World Championship, the first since the ICAF split into ANAC and FISAF. For the first time, the Difficulty score is introduced as a separate item from Technical and Artistic scores. Athletes can perform up to 16 difficulty elements from 6 different families: Static Strenght, Dynamic Strenght, Jumps, Balance, Static Flexibiliy and Dynamic Flexibility. Claudio Lima, former world champion for Brazil, competes for Spain where he has lived for years, and wins a second title six years after the first time. The Spanish mixed pair composed of Alba de Las Heras and Jonatan Canada wins the title with an unbeatable routine.
