1997 World Aerobic Championship
The world championship takes place in Anaheim, and the final is hosted inside the Knott's Berry Farm Good Time Theater, in the Peanuts-themed park. The participation of athletes is massive, including many former gymnasts from the FIG circuit, which leads to a raising of the technical level. Lisa Osborne and Dean Wright (Australia) win the mixed pair, while USA takes home the gold medal in the Team division; great aerobic content and extreme synchronization are the characteristics that both these winning routines have in common. Yuriko Ito from Japan wins the first of her three back-to-back world titles. Former FIG World champion Mario Americo wins also the NAC World title.
