1999 World Aerobic Championship
The World Championship returns to Las Vegas after 5 years, for the tenth anniversary edition. The participation in terms of athletes is impressive, as is the television coverage; the Championship is seen practically all over the world, thanks to ESPN, Eurosport, and other local broadcasters.
Claudio Franzen, from Brazil, wins the gold medal in the individual after winning the pairs in 1994. Korea wins its first gold in the pairs division, while Japan's Yuriko Ito wins her third consecutive title. Australian Anthony Ikin wins the bronze medal but goes down in history for the highest compulsory High Leg Kicks ever performed by a male athlete.
The "Team" category is renamed "Trio".
